So after we had come up with a suitable solution, we realized that this would not be possible on our own, so we joined forces with another group to achieve our goal. While we wanted to take care of the sensors on the tree, their task was to build a network that was as stable and fail-safe as possible and to provide a graphical representation of the data.
Our product consists of three main components: a 4.5k Ohm resistor, a DS18B20 temperature sensor and an ESP-8266 microcontroller. The resistor is used to limit the current in the circuit. The DS18B20 sensor measures the temperature. The ESP-8266 microcontroller is used for data processing and communication.
